In Year 4 we are learning about at a range of topics. In the first half of Autumn term, we will learn about the Water Cycle, how precious water is and how it plays a vital role in our daily life. In the second half of Autumn term, we will explore the Ancient Greeks and find out how they have shaped the world around us. After Christmas, we have more exciting topics that include Rainforests, the Romans, Nutrition, Electricity, the Olympics as well as many others.
All children should come to school wearing a grey school jumper, black shoes, black trousers/skirt and a white shirt.
PE will be delivered on Mondays and Thursdays. For this, we ask that children bring a white P.E. top, black shorts, black joggers and trainers or plimsolls. Kit is to taken home at the end of the half term to be washed.
Home School Diaries
At the beginning of the school year, each child will receive a home school diary. This is to provide parents and teachers a form of communication, a place to record how often a child has read (at home and in school) and a brief description of how they have done. Reading plays a tremendous part in each of our lessons and we hope that it is something children can share with their parents at home. We expect all children to read as often as possible.
Similarly, multiplication is a significant part of Year 4 and every child will have access to the school’s Times Table Rockstars website to support them at home (https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student/36257). It is important that they practise their times tables regularly and when each of the 12 times tables have been mastered they will be rewarded with a Year 4 Times Table Champion badge. Another website that will aid recall of multiplication is https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Check
The Year 4 team are always happy to answer any other enquiries. For more information about the Key Stage 2 curriculum, please contact Mr Reece Davy (Key Stage 2 leader and Vice Principal).
