This year in Year 3 we are looking at a range of topics.
In the autumn term, we shall be learning about the transition from Stone Age to Iron Age. We will experience a Stone Age day to learn all about how humans survived in the Stone Age and how life was different then to what it is now.
After October Half term we shall start to learn a new language, French! We shall also learn about rocks and fossils, focusing on Mary Anning in our topic and English work.
In the Spring term, we have two new topics Mining and Trains! So watch this space to see what this may have in store.
Later in the spring, Rivers and Mountains will be our topic in the spring term, where we will be learning about a mountainous climate, how tourism affects mountain regions and looking at how a river is formed.
The Year 3 team have planned a new residential trip for year 3 in May, where we shall be visiting Sherwood Forest for one night, so keep your eyes peeled for more information!
Reading is something we love to do and we really hope you can share this experience with your child. We ask you to listen to your child read daily and write a note in their diary to let the teacher know how they got on. Home Learning is also set in year 3 and we expect to see one piece of Home Learning every Tuesday!
In Year 3, P.E is done every week on Thursday. It is very important that each child brings their own P.E kit (shorts, t-shirt and plimsoles) and keeps this in school each half term.
